Founded in 1990, Komerční banka is one of the leading banks in the Czech Republic, offering a wide range of retail, investment, and corporate banking services. With a managing stake owned by Société Générale, the bank serves over 1.6 million customers, employs approximately 8,000 staff, and operates across Central and Eastern Europe.

Opportunity

As Komerční banka continued to grow, the organization identified the need to modernize its software development and IT operations practices. The bank aimed to shorten development lifecycles, improve operational efficiency, and enable continuous integration and continuous deployment of high-quality software.

While DevOps had already been explored as a potential solution, Komerční banka required an objective, enterprise-wide assessment of its platforms, systems, and operational processes. The key challenge was to gain a clear understanding of current DevOps maturity levels and define a structured roadmap to achieve full DevOps adoption.

Solution

Mitra AI partnered with Komerční banka to conduct a comprehensive DevOps maturity assessment using its proven M3/DevOps Maturity Assessment Model, aligned with DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) metrics.

Interviews were held with over 115 team members from 13 different teams within the bank, 28 different areas of the business were assessed and multiple key stakeholder and feedback sessions were held. The assessment provided a detailed snapshot of the bank’s software development and IT operations efficiency. Mitra AI evaluated the organisation across four core DevOps dimensions — People, Process, Technology, and Culture — enabling Komerční banka to clearly understand strengths, gaps, and priority areas for improvement.
